Seattle baby photography session with Dawn Potter – a newborn photographer specializing in the art of posed newborn portraiture. Her studio is located in the heart of downtown Issaquah within Gilman Village and is easily accessed from I-90.

Little miss Sofia Rose was just under 3 weeks old when she came in for her newborn session. And since her middle name is Rose, I absolutely had to include roses in at least one of her set ups! Momma loved the idea of using blues and lavender for her session and I definitely wasn’t going to argue- those colors looked stunning on her!

Little miss was very sleepy for the majority of her session but I still managed to capture a few of her with those gorgeous eyes wide open and staring directly at me. There’s nothing better than newborn eye contact. It’s as if they can see right through you!

This sweet baby boy came in for his newborn session when he was just over 2 weeks old. With his gorgeous head of hair and giant dark eyes, he certainly did not disappoint. We started the session with him wide awake, and within a few minutes, he was in a deep sleep. We managed to get through several set ups of him before the morning was over. Momma had specifically requested we use a lot of color, and that’s exactly what we did! Sharing a few of my personal favorites.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing this gorgeous momma and for her maternity session when she just a few weeks away from delivering this sweet little man. One really great thing about photographing maternity sessions for my newborn clients is that I get to meet them in person before their little ones arrive. It’s wonderful getting to know them a bit and chat about their goals are for their newborn sessions.

Baby Jack arrived on the scene and was such a fun little guy to work with. He even flashed me a few little grins during his shoot. He truly was an adorable little dude and the colors momma chose were perfect for him. Sharing a few of my favorites from little Jack’s session. I think I especially love all the family images! Something about a baby so tiny curled up in momma’s arms just makes me swoon.

Seattle Newborn Photography Mentor

Seattle newborn photography mentor Dawn Potter, offers hands on mentoring to other newborn photographers. In your mentoring session, you will learn how to safely pose newborns. You will learn wrapping and soothing techniques to help keep your babies calm throughout your session. You will learn my go-with-the-flow posing style for both beanbag and props.

You will learn lighting, camera settings and shooting angles. We will discuss equipment and gear and the things you need (and the things you don’t need) when having a newborn photography business. The best part is that your 1 to 1 mentoring day will be hands on. Not only will you get to photograph the babies and the set ups, you will also have the opportunity to work through posing yourself with my guidance.

These darling littles were our models for a recent 1 on 1 mentoring session in my Issaquah studio. One baby was photographed using studio light, the other two were photographed using natural light. As you can see, we even worked through the ever so challenging awake baby. (Awake babies won’t seem as scary to you after your mentoring session!)

Newborn Photographer Issaquah | baby Astrid

If you’re looking for a Newborn Photographer Issaquah, you’ve come to the right place! This baby’s family travelled quite a ways to come in to the studio and I am so glad they did. When Astrid came in with her adorable little features, I knew she was going to be the perfect model for my behind-the-scenes video. She was just over two weeks old and I’m pretty sure she didn’t open her eyes the entire time!

The first image below is a composite. She was photographed on a stable surface with the green rug beneath her and then in Photoshop I was able to add the image to my digital backdrop with the dreamcatcher. Baby Astrid was not actually suspended as the final image shows.

I’m sharing all the final images from Astrid’s session below. Her session was a bit shorter than a typical newborn session because the images were only used in the video.
