Christopher 6 Week Old Newborn Session

Every once in a while I have a mom reach out to me when her newborn is a little bit outside of that typical two-week timeframe.  Sometimes their little ones have to spend extra time in the hospital to get healthy, or sometimes moms see how quickly their little one is growing and changing and they realize just how important it is to document and preserve their newness before it passes by.  Other time, families live quite a distance away and they come as soon as they are able to travel.

That was the case with little Christopher.

It was a big weekend of firsts for this guy. First airplane ride.  First time traveling.  And first time at a photo shoot.  Though you would never guess because he was such a natural!  While photographing a six week old newborn session can be pretty challenging, it’s also pretty great.  Not only are they more engaged with the camera, they often are smiling at this point, too and sometimes I’m able to catch some adorable little grins.

Sharing some favorites from Christopher’s session. Some awake, some asleep, and some smiley ones, too!

Aiden Newborn Session

When Aiden’s parents filled out their pre-session questionnaire, mom had mentioned that she really wanted to do an Anne Geddes style session.  If you’re familiar with Anne Geddes work, you know that those are some big shoes to try and fill!  I figured they wouldn’t want me to dress their son up with a big sunflower hat, so instead I went in another direction and tried to create a compose image of Aiden with four different animal hats side by side in different buckets.  (Truth be told, it’s the same bucket but edited to change the color in photoshop.)  I actually really love the way the final image came together and I think mom and dad were pretty happy with it as well!

He was an adorable little dude with his nose crinkle and pouty lips. And every time he opened his eyes, it was as if he was staring right at me!  The last two pictures in his gallery really say it all.

Melissa | Outdoor Maternity Session in Maple Valley

I have a handful of outdoor locations that I love photographing my maternity clients at.  This spot in Maple Valley is one of them.  It’s almost always lush and green and even when it rains for weeks on end like it did this past fall, winter and spring, the tall trees seem to provide some shelter from all the muddiness.

Melissa’s session fell on a unicorn day.  That one day in the midst of the weeks of rain where we actually had a bit of sunshine and warmth.  The spring flowers had even started to bloom and added little pops of color within the lush greenery.

Sharing a few of my favorites from Melissa’s maternity session.  Please check out the investment page for more information on scheduling your own outdoor maternity session.2017-08-05_0009.jpg

Rainbow Baby Newborn Session | Tori Mae

A Rainbow Baby is a baby that is born following a miscarriage or infant loss. A beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison.

Little Victoria, or as mom and dad like to call her, Tori Mae is a Rainbow Baby.

When mom contacted me to schedule her session and told me her personal story, I knew I wanted to do create something beautiful for them that would honor their previous losses and celebrate this special little girl.  The floral composites were the perfect way to do just that.

Mom also chose to bring the veil she wore in her wedding to incorporate into Tori Mae’s session.  The delicate lace was the perfect compliment to her gorgeous features.  I really loved the personal touch it gave to her newborn session.

Snoqualmie Newborn Photographer | John

Meet John. Or as his parents call him, Jack.  (Isn’t the most adorable nick-name in the world?!) 6 days old and teeny tiny.

Every once in a while, I have a baby come in who sleeps like a rock and doesn’t even make a peep.  They let me move them and pose them and we breeze through the session in no time.  John was one of those babies. He was the first little guy to use my Campfire marshmallow tin (cause to be honest, that tin is super tiny and not all that easy to work with). Lots of creamy earthy neutrals for little sweet little family’s session.  And I may have gotten a case of ‘over shooters syndrome’ but that was because we got through everything so quickly!  I especially loved the cute little smirk he gave me when I had him in the little grey bear suit.
