This Cake Smash Session might have been one of my favorites to date! When Adeline’s parents found me last winter and booked her 6 month session with me, I was honored. Most of the babies I photograph for their sitting up and cake smash sessions are return babies from their newborn sessions. By the time their milestones start to roll around, I’ve already formed a bit of a bond with the family. The first time I met Adeline and her parents was at her sitting up session and let me tell you, this family is amazing. I absolutely loved working with them and was so excited to have them come back to me for her one year cake smash session! In the 6 months since I had last seen her, she had not only started crawling which turned into walking, but this little one was on the move! She was dancing and clapping and singing along to her favorite tunes on daddy’s phone. It’s really quite entertaining to watch a group of adults try to keep the attention of a toddler during a photo session 🙂 Adeline did not disappoint. While I’m pretty sure her favorite part was the cake smash, my favorite part was seeing her little face again. Here are some of my favorites from her session and let me tell you, I can not wait to watch this girl grow!

Freya Sitting Up Session | Seattle Newborn-Baby-Family Photographer

Sweet little Freya was close to 8 months when she came to see me for her Sitting Up Milestone session. When planning these sessions with parents, I always try to encourage them to book their Milestone sessions around their baby’s stages and not according to their baby’s age. Babies develop differently and at different paces so there isn’t an exact age when they’ll suddenly be able to sit unsupported on their own. For this very reason, there are times when we need to push sessions back a little bit to make sure we are capturing this important milestone. This adorable little girl was all smiles! No teeth yet, but she loved chewing on her index finger. I even caught a few photos of her doing just that. She was an amazing little baby and there were so many photos from her session that I loved so much! I’m sharing a few of my favorites here. Just so you know, her eyes really are that beautiful. 🙂

Photographing Children | Addy and Avery | Maple Valley newborn-baby-child photographer

There is a level of creativity that comes into play when photographing children. Most children are a bit camera shy and not too interested in showing off their pearly whites. These girls, however are most definitely the exception. Little Miss Avery recently had a birthday and mom wanted to document the 5 year milestone with a little sisters session down at their riverside property. Addy was now 8 months old and sitting up well on her own so we combined their session into an amazing outdoor shoot. Avery and Addy wore beautiful lacy dresses that matched perfectly. And when I started snapping the photos, a vision came to mind. I was going to little Miss Avery into a fairy! A little extra love was put into this editing session to add some special finishing touches. The photos of the girls together turned out beautifully but I have to say the pictures of Avery are some of my favorites of all time. Sharing quite a bit from their session just because I loved way too many to try to narrow them down to just a few.

2 Month Old Newborn Session | Maple Valley newborn-baby photographer

A 2 month old newborn session isn’t something I do very often. In fact, the one other time I photographed babies that were older than this was when they were born about 10 weeks prematurely. Rowan actually arrived past her due date but had to spend some time in the hospital, unfortunately. I knew it would be a little harder to try to capture those newborn posed images but the really amazing thing was that little miss Rowan was all smiles! She may have been awake for the majority of the time, but those beautiful eyes were wide open and looking right through me which made for some gorgeous baby images. Toward the end of the session, we wrapped her up nice and tight, and she snuggled down and drifted off to sleep. It was hard for me to pick my favorites from her session so I decided to share a bunch here. Hope you love them as much as I do!
