While visiting the Las Vegas area for a photography conference, a small group of photographers and I decided to set up an outdoor newborn session in Red Rock Canyon. Watching the weather for several days before the trip, I knew it wasn’t going to be ideal; meaning it would be a little on the chilly side. One of the other photographers made it a priority to have a custom newborn outfit made just for this special occasion. She ordered something that would keep baby extra cozy and nice and warm in case the weather decided to say on the chilly side. It was a good thing we planned ahead because the weather turned out just like we though. Not quite 75 degrees and a little bit of wind kept things interesting, to say the least. Luckily we were super prepared with lots of warm blankets, wraps and bonnets for baby. I think even more challenging than the weather was the direct sun we had overhead. In the middle of the desert, there weren’t a lot of options for finding shade. So some of the photographers were tasked with the lovely chore of holding a nice big diffuser over the top of the baby to help block the sun.
This little girl’s session might have taken a little extra work from everyone to pull it off, but in the end, we got some great photos for momma.
We decided to reschedule her session and have her come back about a week later. We scheduled for a different time of the day to increase our chances of success, and I’m so glad we did! The second time Quinn came in we were able to capture a lot more of her true personality on camera. I’ll share a few of my favorites from her session below.
I will admit, it’s pretty amazing being able to photograph these little ones again and again. I get to watch them grow up and change and see their personalities come to life. Quinn came in for her newborn session almost a year before and seeing her again really made my heart happy! I say it over and over again but it’s true: I have the best job in the whole world!

These two were quite worn out toward the end of the session and they even dozed off for a few minutes, letting me snap a couple of beautiful sleepy baby portraits. Sharing a few of my favorite images from this boy girl twins session.

Mom had told me she really wanted to keep the session more natural. She loved the portraits where baby was the sole focus and didn’t want to incorporate a lot of props. Together, we chose backdrops that suited their style and the look they wanted to achieve and in the end, Lola’s gallery came together quite beautifully. Sharing a few of my favorite images from sweet little Lola’s three week newborn session.

i believe...
every photograph tells a story. capturing moments that would otherwise be forgotten. moments that can not be replicated or reproduced. moments that that are unique in meaning to every person who sees them. moments that you can not get back.
a photograph allows you the opportunity to relive those moments over and over again. these moments shape the story of our lives, and everyone has a story to tell.
let me help you tell yours.
