Sleepy Baby Boy | Maple Valley – Seattle Newborn – Baby Photographer

Little Wesley was such a sleepy baby boy! When he came to see me, he was just 8 days new and a little over 9 lbs. I try not to have too many expectations during a newborn session because all babies are different. Some sleep soundly throughout their entire session and some are more sensitive and take little naps here and there. This little man slept like a rock! He was totally conked out for almost all of his session. In fact, I think I only captured one image of him with his eyes open. 🙂 One of the best things about having a sleepy baby is that we move through the session really quickly. Different set-ups, different poses… we get an amazing variety! This was definitely one of those sessions. Mom even brought a few props of her own; one of which was a Lego basket that Wesley’s big brother had made. He made the Lego basket JUST so Wesley could be photographed in it for his newborn session. How cool is that?! When mom told me that their family were not only big Lego fans but also huge Star Wars fans, an idea came to mind for a very specific photo…

The Newborn Experience | Maple Valley-Renton Newborn Photographer

It’s no secret that I am completely head-over-heels in love with photographing newborns. The feeling I get with each and every newborn session is indescribable. For a long time, I would photograph these precious little creatures, edit their images and then send their galleries off to their parents without being able to experience their reactions to seeing the photos of their little ones. One day, while I was editing a gallery, I realized how much this saddened me. I wanted to be a part of this process! So I decided to scrap the online gallery and start presenting these photos to my clients in person. My clients have LOVED it and the response to this has been amazing. I begin each in-person viewing appointment with a slideshow of all of the edited images from their gallery. These slideshows are personalized and include details of their new little one. With so much emphasis on digital these days, what could be better than a digital birth announcement showcasing all of the images from your baby’s session along with their birth stats? Here is a shortened and modified example of what my clients will see when they view their photos for the first time. I call it, the Newborn Experience. Enjoy! Seattle Seahawks Newborn | Maple Valley – Covington Newborn Photographer

This little guy came to see me specifically to photograph him in this adorable Seattle Seahawks newborn outfit! When I saw it, I KNEW I had to have it, and when I found the PERFECT little man to model it, it all came together. Baby Sam was just barely 7 lbs and 6 days new when he came him for his mini session. He was so adorable and had the most amazing hair I think I have ever seen on any human in my entire life. Seriously. You’ll know what I mean when you see his photos! This was a really short session; we kept it at an hour. I was a little bummed I didn’t have more time with him because he was such a great little model. I think he smiled about a dozen times; almost every one of them was while my camera was out of my hands- go figure! But I did manage to catch on VERY cute one where he flashed us his little dimple. EEEK!

In celebration of Blue Friday and our Seattle Seahawks playing in the Superbowl this weekend, I decided I should get a few photos up of this little man to share with all our fellow Seahawk fans. #gohawks

2014 Year In Review | Seattle Baby Photographer

2014 came and went in the blink of an eye! As a Seattle Baby Photographer, I have had the most AMAZING year photographing the most AMAZING babies! The really great thing is that several of them came back to see me again for their milestone sessions, too. Not only did I get to capture those precious little poses during their first few days of life, but I got to see them when they were rolling over and sitting up, as well. It’s so awesome watching these little ones grow! And a few of them will surely be back in 2015 for their cake smash sessions and one year birthdays! EEEK! I know, I know. I’ve said it so many times. But I seriously LOVE this life and I love being able to provide these families with so many wonderful memories for years to come. Here’s a little collage I put together of everyone I had the PLEASURE and PRIVILEGE of working with in 2014.

Sweet Baby Girl | Seattle Newborn Photographer

This sweet baby girl and her momma came in to see me a few weeks for a model call that we did here at the studio in Maple Valley. She was just over a week old and weighing right around 8 pounds. She was so sleepy and so cuddly and had the fullest head of hair! She was too cute for words. She even had little baby hairs on her back and arms. During the model call, I had the pleasure of having two other photographers join me and I have to admit, it was really nice having extra hands helping out! We worked through tons of poses rather quickly, and in the end we even captured a handful of gorgeous images of this little one with her momma. One of which is going to be blown up nice and big and hung on a wall in my studio; can’t wait!
